What is your Gift?

What is your Gift? Everyman has a unique gift and a reason for being on earth. That gift must be discovered. That gift is in you. Please if you did not read the blog post “The Secret of Life is IN YOU” posted on 17 th October 2016, kindly read it on http://secretofliferhapsody.blogspot.com.ng/ The story emphasizes the fact that the secret of your success (i.e. Your Gifting) lies inside you. Little wonder why Mark Twain said that “The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you figure out why you were born.” Stop for a minute and Ponder : Why were you born? My answer to you is that: You are gift to the World. SO I ask you again: “What is your gift?” The only way to identify your gift is for you to embark on an introspective journey to understand yourself. Ask yourself these questions: What do I love doing? What will make me wake up at odd hours?  When you identify that gift, build a routine around

The Habit that leads to Success

The Habit that leads to Success We are a creature of Habit. Our craving is what drives our habits. For example, if we have a craving of eating a lot, that craving becomes a habit that makes you eat all the time and the result is that you add weight until you become obese. So I guess the question is: How do you develop a New Habit? A New habit begins when: 1.     You do anything that excites you to action (E.g. Learn Music, Go to School) 2.     You fix a routine and 3.     It has a reward that has been enumerated. I remember when I started working on my first book. I scheduled a routine to always write every Saturday from 6am to 9pm. The result after one year: The book is ready for print. My Summation: The habit that leads to success begins with an important goal, a routine and a reward that has been thought about. P.S: The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg helped me illuminate this thought.

What Are your Numbers?

What Are your Numbers? 1.     Do you run a business? 2.     If you do. How much did you make last year, last month or better still, how much did you make last week? 3.     If you are an employee, how much in terms of percentage or productivity did you contribute to the company’s bottom line? If you are a business owner and you don’t have an answer to question 2, then that is the reason why you don’t know what drives your profit margin and where you are losing money from? If you are an employee and you don’t have an answer to question 3, then that is the reason why promotion has eluded you and that your organization has put you on the list of employees that will be downsized. Every business owner must know their numbers. You must know your monthly income. You must know your monthly expenses. You must know your energy costs. The essence of knowing this is for you to know what is constraining your business and where resources should be channeled to enab

How to become More Spiritual

How to become More Spiritual Everyone desires to become more spiritual, but few are willing to take the plunge. Some people don’t even know where to start from or how to start. I believe that the path to follow to become more spiritual includes: Understand that God alone deserves all the worship and honor and not any man. Understand that God is too glorious to be replaced by things such as cars, clothes, shoes, bags. Understand that the way to deeper knowledge of God is by soul poorness and denial of material things and seeking spiritual things. Understand that believing in God is simply the beginning of faith and spirituality. Understand that when you solely plan for what’s good, you will find God in the middle of your plans. Recognize that you are never alone and that God is constantly with you and he is never more than a blink away.

The People that will hurt you the Most

The People that will hurt you the Most I have just come to the realization that the people who will hurt you the most are your loved ones. Do you know why? The reason is because you love them without fail. So when you speak to them and they yell back to you or do things that don’t tally with your views, you get angry, sad, disappointed or angry towards them. I see this happen a lot: Fathers vs. Sons, Mothers vs. Daughters, Husbands vs. Wives, Brothers vs. Sisters, Workers vs. Co-Workers. Sometimes, we take it to the extreme of refusing to talk them, fighting, separation and even divorce. Whenever, you get to this point, stop and ask yourself these questions: Did you have the prerogative to choose which family you were born into? Did you have the prerogative to choose which siblings you would grow up with? Did you have the prerogative to choose the people that you fell in love with? As you answer these questions, you will realize that you didn

Purpose

Purpose Purpose gets you up in the morning. Purpose keeps you going, even when you are tired and worn down. Purpose gives you will power. So the first question that I will ask today is …. What drives you?  What is your purpose? I want to honestly state that what drives me in life is helping people to start their journey to self-discovery. That is why I started “The Secret of Life Blog” I believe that is my primary purpose. My secondary purpose is to be a teacher that demystifies various areas of learning ranging from Entrepreneurship, Information Technology,  Business Administration, Marketing, Logic and Problem Solving. And My tertiary purpose is to be a problem solver. I want to teach people how to solve problems relating to what we encounter everyday. If you are reading this blog, stop whatever you are doing and answer the following questions: What is your primary purpose in life? What is your secondary purpose in life? Wha

Shoshin - The Beginner’s Mind

Shoshin - The Beginner’s Mind Shoshin is a concept known as the beginner’s mind. Shoshin requires you to approach learning as a beginner even if you already know the subject of study. Shoshin requires you to be open minded, eager to learn and shed aside any pre-conception about what you are learning. I believe that is why the first belt, you get in the martial arts training school is yellow, because you are a beginner and full of possibilities to learn a whole lot. One thing is certain, a beginners mind makes you curious, open minded and makes you ask a lot of questions thus killing the need for you to assume about a subject or keep previous assumptions. Assumption kills creativity. Assumptions tie us to old dogma and beliefs so anytime you use the words, I assume ……… Quickly revert to Shoshin Mode. Activate Shoshin Mode at all times. Note:  "In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's there are few.&

MULTI-TASKING SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK

MULTI-TASKING SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK One of the most difficult yet impossible tasks at the airport is trying to land two aircrafts at the same time. Someone please tell me:  Have you ever tried landing two aircrafts at the same time? In my own opinion, I believe that every time we try to do two or more things at the same time, we are simply dividing our focus and delaying the completion of the task we set out to achieve. “The only reason why men fail is broken focus”  -Mike Murdock I wish to paraphrase this quote and say the only reason why men fail is Multi-Tasking. Man begins to fail when he has two visions (Di-Vision)  Or When he tries to do two things at the same time, He ends up accomplishing nothing. In fact as kids, we were taught that division reduces a value by the dividing parameter. I tend to argue anytime you try to multi-task, you diminish your strength and will power. Rather than multi-task, start and finish one task and then go to anoth

THE SECRET of LIFE IS IN YOU

THE SECRET of LIFE IS IN YOU The Great Spirit called together all of the Gods to discuss a most grave and important matter. She had decided to create human beings but knew that they would not be able to cope with The Secret of Life and so needed to keep it from them. She gave the Gods the task of finding a place to hide The Secret of Life. The Gods met and discussed and argued and debated but after several weeks they could still not think of a place to hide The Secret of Life. Eventually, one God came up with a solution that met with the approval of most of the Gods. He suggested that they hide  The Secret of Life deep in the roots of the highest mountain  because humans would never be able to find it there. The Gods were pleased with themselves and were about to go and tell the Great Spirit their solution to the problem but one God spoke up. He said that although it would take a long time to find the secret of Life, they would find it. Eventually, they would

SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE GO SMALL

SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE GO SMALL Welcome to the Maiden Edition of the Secret of Life Rhapsody We wish to begin this string of articles by stating a key fact which is: Successful People Start Small. There are many quotes that buttress this argument. We will review only two. They Include: The Journey of a thousand miles begins with a step and KaiZen (Continuous Improvement) principle developed by the Japanese. Let us start by reviewing the fact that before you take 1000 steps, you must take the first step.  I guess that is why successful companies like Microsoft started with a Quick and Dirty Operating System named Q-DOS and then they took small steps in making the operating system better. Today, we have Windows 10 operating system which has gone through many small iterations but has become a matured successful product. The Japanese understand that a small improvement applied regularly creates a robust and matured product in the future.  That is the reason w
